Scope of Work
Good Life Construction removed the existing stucco from all exterior walls and soffits of the home and detached garage down to the framing, then installed sheathing, building paper, and approximately 2,200 square feet of James Hardie fiber cement siding in a combination of lap plank and board-and-batten profiles, secured with hot-dipped galvanized fasteners and finished with Hardie corner and trim pieces and metal flashing at transitions. Interior plaster was removed throughout the home down to the wood framing as part of the same contract. The new siding was painted as the final step of the exterior work.
Challenges and Solutions
Completing the siding and trim in one area near the home's electrical service panel required the utility provider to remove overhead power lines before that section of work could be finished safely. Good Life Construction paused work in that specific area and returned to install the remaining siding piece, refasten the affected trim, and complete the exterior painting once the utility work was done.
Materials and Systems
James Hardie fiber cement siding was installed in two profiles: lap plank siding (approximately 700 sq ft) and board-and-batten siding (approximately 1,500 sq ft), secured with hot-dipped galvanized fasteners, with Hardie corner and window/door trim and metal/z-flashing at horizontal transitions.
Final Result
- The home and detached garage's stucco exterior was fully replaced with James Hardie fiber cement siding.
- Interior plaster was removed throughout the home as part of the same project.
- The new siding was painted to complete the exterior.
