Scope of Work
Good Life Construction completed a stone veneer installation and house painting project in Sacramento that included removal of existing siding and trim, new exterior wall preparation, stone veneer installation, exterior finish work, window replacement, door replacement, and post replacement. The stone veneer scope included metal lath as needed, scratch coat mortar, aligned veneer placement, cuts around openings and edges, grouted joints, and surface cleanup. The project also included new plywood sheathing, building paper, weep screed, foam board stucco, fiberglass mesh, acrylic finish coat, premixed color finish, two white vinyl dual-pane Low-E windows, one prehung door, and a pressure-treated 4x6 post set on a new concrete footing and painted to match the existing exterior as closely as possible.
Challenges
The project required careful coordination between masonry veneer installation, exterior finish work, painted details, window openings, door flashing, and post replacement. The stone veneer had to be fitted around openings, corners, and edges, while the surrounding exterior surfaces needed proper weather protection, flashing, sealant, finish texture, and color consistency.
Solutions
Good Life Construction prepared the exterior surfaces with new sheathing, building paper, metal lath, weep screed, and stucco finish materials, then installed the stone veneer over scratch coat mortar with finished grout joints. Window and door openings were protected with flashing tape, weatherproof flashing, and sealant. The team also replaced the existing post with a new concrete footing, post base, and pressure-treated 4x6 post, then primed and painted the post to blend with the existing exterior.
Final Result
- Improved exterior protection with new weather-resistant layers, flashing, sealant, and a properly supported replacement post.
- Updated the home’s exterior with stone veneer installation, coordinated finish texture, premixed color finish, new windows, a new door, and painted post detail.
- Increased long-term performance through new sheathing, masonry veneer installation, acrylic finish materials, and properly detailed exterior openings.
