Scope of Work
Good Life Construction completed a patio construction and backyard remodel project at a residential property in Roseville. The scope included demolition of approximately 625 square feet of existing concrete, removal of the existing barbecue area, and installation of new sand finish concrete up to 1,100 square feet with a stamped frame. The project also included a 16’ x 24’ aluminum patio cover with footings, aluminum beams, joists, flashing, roof panels, flush lights, fans, and dimmer, plus a 22-linear-foot L-shaped BBQ area with cinder block, smooth stucco, tile, granite countertops, cabinets, appliances, sink, TV connection, added outlets, sconce lighting, drainage relocation, and drip system modification.
Challenges
The project required coordination between patio construction, concrete replacement, outdoor utility routing, drainage work, and finish installation. Existing concrete had to be removed and selectively opened to bring electrical and water service to the new BBQ area. The patio cover also required new footings and proper integration with the expanded concrete layout, while drainage and irrigation had to be modified to support the updated backyard hardscape.
Solutions
Good Life Construction completed the work with a phased construction approach that combined site preparation, concrete, patio cover installation, outdoor BBQ construction, utilities, and drainage improvements. The team installed new concrete with a sand finish and stamped border, built the L-shaped BBQ structure with cinder block, mesh, smooth stucco, tile, granite countertops, and appliance connections, and installed the aluminum patio cover with footings, aluminum framing members, flashing, roof components, lighting, fans, and dimmer. Drainage was rerouted with new drain pipe, and the sprinkler layout was modified with a new drip system along the fence edge.
Final Result
- Improved outdoor function with a new covered patio, BBQ area, added lighting, outlets, water connection, and drainage improvements.
- Expanded backyard usability with new concrete, shade coverage, cooking space, TV wall, appliances, and finished outdoor surfaces.
- Better long-term performance through drainage relocation, drip system modification, concrete replacement, and aluminum patio cover installation.
